This DVD was shot in the historically significant Tao Ran Ting Park in Beijing. This park was where Chen Fake corrected Hong Junsheng over the span of four months in 1956. Master Chen Zhonghua, 19th generation successor of Hong Junsheng and 2nd generation master of the Hunyuantaiji System of Feng Zhiqiang, demonstrates advanced push hands techniques with the students that accompanied him to China in the summer of 2004. Most of the footage is shown in slow motion allowing the viewer to see the fine details of Master Chen's technique. The whole body coordination, the luring of the opponent into disadvangteous positions, and the use of structural positioning instead of muscular force are a few of the things that are clearly demonstrated in this video. The techniques of Ji (Press), Front Push, Front Side Push, Front Push Variation, Front Push and Twisting Waist, Brush the Knee, Punch, Sparring with Brush the Knee, Sparring with the First Move of Flash the Back, Six Sealing Four Closing, Punch Hitting the Ground, Initial Closing, and Rotation are all shown along with captions that explain the intricacies of the techniques. Afterwards, Master Chen says a few words about the philosophy of Hong Junsheng. Several students also offer their reasons for choosing to study with Chen Zhonghua.

This is an excellent resource for those wishing to delve deeper into the push hands and self defense aspects of Taijiquan.

Lots of repetition. Moves are shown very clearly. There was very little verbal explanation in the video, though the applications are shown clearly
without words.
